A mid-20th century English mahogany cabinet from the Alter Ego Home antique collection.
Stylistically, the cabinet straddles the line between neoclassicism and Art Deco, which in England was commonly known as "streamline." The cabinet is veneered with mahogany, a beautiful natural grain similar to amboina, the most popular wood for Art Deco interiors.
The cabinet features simple, clean lines reminiscent of neoclassicism. It consists of three parts. The front is decorated with planks that mimic panels. The cabinet is topped with a large triangular cornice with two cut-out half-rings and a turret at the top. This piece is a relaxed take on English Art Deco and will fit perfectly into a modern interior.
This antique cabinet is estimated to have been made in the 1950s and is in excellent condition! It requires no restoration.
