By far the tightest Neve compressor in my opinion, and the limiter ( on its own or combined with the compressor ) is pure magic!
You can push your sound source in a very “grabby, fast” way, it can sound “spanked/bouncy/punchy” without any problem, but it’s main-forte is incredibly controlled glue on any source.. it’s a bit more “hifi / true to source” then most other Neve compressors, but that doesn’t mean it sounds modern or boring, quite the opposite, it oozes character, and when you play with the settings and combinations with the limiter, you will find out that its very very versatile!

About the difference with the 33609

Geoff T ; There are other very subtle differences between the motherboards but, for all intents and purposes, they should sound the same and the 33314 boards were used in the early 33609's.

Later 33609's use completely different transformers to earlier models that makes a lot more difference than having a discrete or IC + discrete output amplifier.

The class A/B Neve 33314a is essentially the same as the Neve 32264/33609, possibly the best compressor/limiter ever made. The same circuitry is wrapped in a slightly different package, with metal knobs replacing the plastic ones of the previous incarnations.



Compressor is extremely versatile, with adjustable release, ratio, threshold, and makeup gain. Separate limiter is virtually invisible, has very low distortion, with adjustable release and threshold. Linkable for stereo, with a hard bypass.



Great for setting lead vocals in the perfect sweet spot in the mix, and on most instruments, and across the mix buss. Limit and compress at the same time!
