NEVE 2252 COMPRESSION AMPLIFIER
VERY rare, and monstrously fat and thick sounding, with superb GARDNERS MU plug-in transformers.
Don’t bring this one home to meet your parents!
The 2252 is the first compressor Neve ever made, and it was discontinued ( and followed up by the 2254 etc. );because it was “to rough” — it had to much distortion, but this is not distortion as you would get out of a distortion pedal or such, it’s ABSOLUTELY NOT ugly distortion, it’s the “distortion” we now love and crave, we call it saturation and as we now know it adds a certain depth and “naturallity” to the sound which makes it more pleasant to the ears…
The 2252 has an incredibly beefy and proud push in the low end, and chews your audio before it spits it out as an incredible mass of sonics.. truly great!
The VU meter plastic caps are not original, and one VU meter has a shorter “handle” if this turns out to be a sales-killer we will replace these but for now it’s for sale like this.
