For sale is a rare, very well preserved vintage MusicMan Stingray I guitar - a special piece of Leo Fender history. The Stingray I was one of the first guitars developed by Leo Fender as the new head of Musicman in 1976. Leo always saw the Stingray I as a logical evolution of the Strat, deliberately incorporating more sound options for different styles. The Stingray comes with a 4-position rotary knob that can be used to switch either the neck or bridge pickup only, or both pickups in phase or both out of phase. A toggle switch for more brightness is also installed. An enormously versatile instrument that, in addition to fantastic hardware (super pleasant playing feel on the rather "flat" neck), offers all conceivable sounds with the active pickups, including pearly vintage Strat, Tele and - thanks to the humbucker circuit - also fine Les Paul sounds with "mojo". This means that the guitar gets the best out of all amps (I play various Marshalls and Fenders) and comes through with distinction in any recording and band context, for example.
Unfortunately I can only estimate the year of manufacture (between 1976 and 1978), I bought the guitar in the mid-90s in a store in Santa Barbara (USA) and used it exclusively for home recording - as a "one size fits all" guitar.
As I now only play Strat and Jazzmaster, I would like to sell it.
Comes with new D'Addario XL strings (010-013-017-w026-w036-w046) and fresh 9V battery. Without case!
Test play and pickup in Aachen (Germany) preferred!
Serious offers only please.
