This banknote is a good example of the counting money in pounds and mils (£1 = 1000 mils) that started from the last decade of British rule on the Island of Love. The Obv. gives official legend in Greek and Turkish being the Rev. in English, representing all three languages, which are official in Cyprus. Copper mines are very symbolic for it is copper which made the island important for civilization since prehistoric times till now: Cyprus copper is used in minting all standard euro coins.
