Guitar Hero 5 Playstation 3

Guitar Hero 5 lijkt veel op Guitar Hero: World Tour. Jij kan namelijk samen met je vrienden een band vormen. Twee personen spelen op een gitaar, eentje drumt en de vierde zingt in de microfoon. Door op het juiste moment de juiste knoppen in te drukken, en tevens op de goede toonhoogte met de tekst mee te zingen kan je als band een zo hoog mogelijke score bereiken.

Toch zijn er een paar serieuze verschillen tussen Guitar Hero 5 en zijn voorgangers. Zo kun je in Guitar Hero 5 op ieder moment inspringen als een song wordt gespeeld en ermee ophouden wanneer je wilt. Bovendien kun je op elk moment in de huid kruipen van een ander bandlid, van instrument wisselen of het niveau aanpassen.

In Guitar Hero 5 kunnen vier spelers met elk willekeurig instrument een band vormen. Zo kan je een nummer met vier microfoons, vier gitaren of zelfs vier drumstellen spelen.
Guitar Hero 5 laat je niet alleen vrij in de keuze van de instrumenten, ook het 'unlocken' van nummers behoort tot de verleden tijd. Je kunt meteen aan het rocken slaan met muziek van onder andere Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Vampire Weekend en Johnny Cash.
In de nieuwe 'Rockfest' modus kunnen vier spelers het thuis of online tegen anderen opnemen. Terwijl het nummer speelt, zal de moeilijkheidsgraad voor iedere speler worden aangepast. Wanneer je veel noten mist, wordt het gemakkelijker en als je een streak van twintig noten haalt, ga je leveltje omhoog.
