KLM are pleased to offer you this tile which was made exclusively for our Business Class passengers. There are four series, showing reproductions of authentic Dutch windmills, crafts, children’s games and ships, each consisting of nine different designs. The tiles are fashioned in ‘Polychrome’ a rare and difficult Technique developed and perfected in Delft during the middle of the 17th century.
At that time, tiles were very much in vogue. They decorated the walls of Dutch interiors, with the costly Polychromes taking pride of place. By the light of an open fire, their warm colours acquired an intimate glow. The Dutch loved tiles showing images of the world around them. Today, these tiles give us a fascinating insight into the lives of those people.
