Minty double edged nickel plated blade with German maker's name and trademark: CARL EICKHORN-SOLINGEN and a sitting squirrel on the ricasso. White felt washer. Beautiful on piece black ribbed grip with double twisted brass wire winding. Gilt open pommel in the shape of the Dutch Royal crown. Gilt crossguard in the shape of a flying eagle. Scabbard release button on the reverse side of the crossguard.A very nice Dutch Royal Air Force dirk. It is a unique design of the Dutch military artist: J. F. H. Th. (Frans) Smits in 1961, and produced in a very limited number only.
