RareCretaceous Amber with Inclusions: Parasitic wasp, Crane Fly & Winged Termite
This beautifully preserved and crystal-clear piece of Burmese amber from the renowned Kachin deposits (circa 99 million years old) captures a rare moment of prehistoric life frozen in time. Weighing just 0.95 grams and measuring 2 cm in length by 1.3 cm in width, this gem-quality specimen features an extraordinary trio of insect inclusions:
Parasitic Wasp – Perfectly detailed with long antennae, large compound eyes, and fine wing venation, likely from a group such as Ichneumonidae or Braconidae.
Crane Fly – Slender-bodied with characteristically long legs and delicate wings. Some of the legs are found across the entire piece.
Winged Termite (Alate) – A smaller reproductive caste termite, preserved mid-flight, suggesting a swarm event.
All three are clearly visible and beautifully framed in transparent golden amber with minimal clouding, making this a display-worthy piece for any collection.
Pictures are made with macro lens and microscope and high magnification
