"Issued to Soviet ground forces from the mid-1980s, this is part of a two-piece combination (see UNI 619) to be worn in the summer months over the field uniform. This pattern of camouflage is based on the KLMK ('kamuflirovanniy letniy maskirovochniy kombinezon') that was initially used by snipers, comprising a beret, face mask and hooded coveralls. This version included coarse material in the fabric which is is believed to have to aided concealment from infra-red sensors."
