Artist Statement:
When asked about his artistic approach, Yoshiyuki Someya explained:
"I carry a personal vision of the landscape, but I intentionally avoid depicting any specific place.
Instead, I invite viewers to explore the interplay of lines and subtle boundaries, allowing them to interpret the scene freely.
It might evoke a path through a meadow, a flowing river, a distant mountain range, or a bird’s-eye view of a natural expanse.
I hope each viewer can project their own memories and imagination to discover a 'personal landscape' within the work—one of quiet movement, space, and connection."
Someya is involved in every step of the printmaking process, serving as the designer, carver, and printer of his works.
Exhibition History:
Since 2002, his work has been exhibited in various cities across Japan, the United States, Israel, and the United Kingdom.
