About the estate
This 33 hectare vineyard was part of Château Lascombes, as both properties were owned by Bass Charrington in the 1970s before being split in the 1980s to reduce Lascombes to its original size-50 hectares. The whole property has undergone a revival since 1982, with further investment being made from 1990.

Château Pontet-Chappaz is located in the commune of Arsac, on gravel soil, in the Margaux appellation.
About the cuvée
The vinification is traditional and the wines, after maturing in oak barrels (with 20% new wood each year), are characterized by their deep color, their characteristic bouquet and their rich, soft structure. These are wonderfully soft Margaux, with a well-judged wood flavor and high-quality tannins.

AOC Margaux is the only communal appellation of the Haut-Médoc to bear the name of a first grand cru classé, Château Margaux. It extends south of the Médoc on 1,400 ha and produces an average of 63,000 hl of red wine per year. With the exception of a small production of white wine under the Bordeaux AOC produced by Château Margaux (White Pavilion).
The appellation selects the best soils and owns some of the finest hulls of all Bordeaux. It is one of the most prestigious appellations of the Médoc and also one of the largest. Margaux covers five communes: Arsac, Cantenac, Labarde, Margaux and Soussans
The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot produces fine, elegant wines with a harmonious, full mouth, supported by a fine texture of delicate and tasty tannins. The finish is in harmony and elegance. Margaux is a “feminine” wine, which ages and evolves throughout its life.
