A South Dutch wall clock, probably by Cornelis Remmen of Well
Provenance: -Former Schermerhorn collection
The polychrome painted face with Roman numerals and gold painted spandrels, surmounted by two swans holding a shield with a 5 point star. The single hand indicating the hours. The cage like construction holds a 12 hour mechanism with an anchor escapement and a long pendulum. Chiming mechanism with a count wheel, striking the whole hours in full on a large bell. The mechanism is driven by an endless cord with two weights each suspended on a pulley. The clock rests on a wooden bracket of later date. Including pendulum and two weights.
