Een echte museum kwaliteit gips 3D relief plaat gemaakt in 1862 door Robert Jefferson of Lambreth, naar eenwerk van de Italiaanse sculptor Lica Giordano , getiteld 'Fall of the Rebel Angels' voorstelling Engel Sint Michael over drie dode vrouwen.

Diameter alleen de gips plaat: 20.5cm. Diameter met lijst: 29 cm. Spiren van tijd , dit is bijna 200 jaar oud kunstwerk, maar overal ,het is super mooi.

A Victorian circular ebonised framed parian ware plaque, 'The Fall of the Rebel Angels', by Robert Jefferson of Lambeth and after Luca Giordano . Marked for the Art Union of London and believed to date to around 1862 (the date should be on the inner rim of the plaque, which is not visible when in the frame). The plaque is very faintly signed and titled.

Finely detailed relief figures depicting St Michael with arms outstretched, flanked by heads of females behind him and three fallen angels in foreground. Housed within its original Georgian style ebonised and convex glazed frame.

The fall of the rebel angels was one of the most dominant themes to the counter-Reformation in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, which witnessed a resurgence of Catholicism against the Protestant reformation, as well as internal renewal within the Catholic Church. Several versions of the painting exist; Giordano’s is in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, where it has been housed since 1785.

The Art Union of London was established in 1837 and distributed works of art among its members by means of a lottery prize. They became known for their art medals and parian ware.

Born in St. Saviour's, Surrey, and baptised on 27 July 1827. He was the son of Robert and Sarah Jefferson. Jefferson senior was a hatter living, and presumably working, in Charlotte Street who died when he was young. Sarah Jefferson probably remarried another hatter, Jacob Cole. In 1851 Robert was living with his stepfather, and Cole was listed as a widower.

Nothing is known of Robert's early training but he was working as a modeller in 1851, as a 'Sculptor Marble & Designer' a decade later, and a sculptor in 1871. Over several months in 1859 to 1860 Jefferson, who was then living at 69 Hercules Buildings in Lambeth, corresponded with the architect Lewis Vulliamy about drawings for a mantelpiece with caryatids. It is not clear whether this design or others supplied by Jefferson were used. No record for Jefferson's career after 1871, when he and his family were visiting New Accrington in Lancashire, has been found.
