'Skywriter', the Jacksons' seventh studio album (1973) is perhaps one of their most subtle albums.
It lacked the big hits when it was released, combined with the mumbling that Michael's voice was changing, it did not sell well. Michael was allowed to express himself a little more as a young man. "Touch" (originally recorded by the Supremes in 1971), features Michael and Jermaine singing about pleasing a woman in bed.
Michael expresses himself a little more as a young man, not a type anymore.
'Skywriter' is certainly not an average album, it is a keeper.
With its mix of harder blues, gospel, funk and even progressive elements, this album put The Jacksons on top.
It is clear that they really enjoyed making this album.
