Betty Wright always keeps it real – as the singer's one of the sharpest talents to emerge from the southern scene at the start of the 70s – a badass vocalist who always tells it like it is!
This album has Wright at the height of her early powers – working in that growing Miami soul groove that she was such a big part of – a mode that's pre-disco, but served up after the earlier years of southern soul – at a time when Betty and a few other talents were really finding new ways of expression for female singers in deep soul!
Some of these tracks pick up a bit of that TK Records groove, but never in a style that's clubby at all – and Wright really shines on titles that include "A Sometime Kind Of Thing", "If You Abuse My Love", "Room At The Top", "Brick Grits", "Give Me More More More", "You Can't See For Lookin", and "That Man Of Mine".
