Paul Simon In the blue light lp mini sleeve

The folk legend covers himself: Paul Simon with "In The Blue Light" and exciting guests PaulSimon is releasing his 14th studio album in 2018 under the title "In The Blue Light". The legendary songwriter produced the album together with Roy Halee, with whom he has been working since the 1960s.

The guest musicians who can be heard on the tracks belong to the crème de la crème of the scene. With their support, the artist puts a new sound on ten of his favorite songs and surprises the listener with exciting new interpretations of the titles.

For "In The Blue Light", Paul Simon selected tracks that were originally released on the following albums: "There Goes Rhymin' Simon" (1973), "Still Crazy After All These Years" (1975), "One-Trick Pony" (1980), "Hearts and Bones" (1983), "The Rhythm of The Saints" (1990), "You're The One" (2000) and "So Beautiful Or So What" (2011).

The guest musicians on "In The Blue Light" include jazz superstars Wynton Marsalis (trumpet), Bill Frisell (guitar), Jack DeJohnette and Steve Gadd (both drums). The songs "Can't Run But" and "Rene and Georgette Magritte with Their Dog After the War" were recorded with the six members of the New York chamber music ensemble yMusic, which is currently accompanying Paul Simon on his "Farewell Tour".

In the album's liner notes, Paul Simon explains: "It's not every day that an artist gets the opportunity to rework, rethink and even change entire parts of the original songs."

"I took advantage of this opportunity, which also allowed me to play with exceptional musicians who had never been involved in any of my recordings before. I hope I was able to give the songs a new lease of life, like giving an old house a new coat of paint."
