QNAP TS-251D NAS Server with 16Gb RAM

Selling my 2-bay NAS server from QNAP in as-new conditions, upgraded above the maximum allowed RAM. This comes with a PCIe3x4 to nvme adapter AND a nvme adapter you can use for cache or alternate OS.

Operative System:

You can use the original QNAP OS, it sits on the soldered memory on the 4GB integrated flash on the motherboard. I'll take care of cleaning up the account and registration from that and reset it to factory default. QNAP is very stable and mature if you need a simple, web-based OS with Samba, NFS, and dedicated apps.
In this setup the NVME will be used for cache, signficantly speeding up the processes and data transfer. The OS easily supports RAID1, RAID0, JBOD configuration for your drives

Otherwise, you can install on the NVME your favourite OS and tell the bios to run that instead. Indeed, it currently runs TrueNAS Scale 25, a rock solid, stable operative system usually used for datacenter storage applications. This OS mainly runs as a webUI layer for ZFS, ensuring enterprise level data resiliency. With this unit you can use Z Mirror (RAID1 equivalent), that also offers snapshot protection (think it as: cryptolocker cannot really affect your snapshot at all. You get cryptolocked? revert the snapshot and you are back on the route in no time.).
This is also offers containerization, virtualization and native apps.
