The angular ADB Mouse was revised to the smaller ball with the "ADB Mouse II" often referred to as the 'tear-drop' or 'Ergo' mouse. You'll still need the original retainer ring with three wings for your Mac 128/512/Plus mouse.

The ADB Mouse II had two different serial number prefixes

"M" prefix (Mitsumi) used a 22.23mm steel/rubber coated ball
"L" prefix (Logitech) used a 21.6 mm black lightweight ball

Apple Grey Mouse Ball (25,4 mm dia, gray - 699-8001 for Apple Desktop Bus Mouse G5431 USA (introduced with the Macintosh II and the SE. The label not only sported a name, Apple Desktop Bus Mouse, but was given a Family Number G5431.)

There were a total of 3 mice of this type produced. The original was manufactured in Taiwan with 2 variations. 1 was sold with the Apple IIGS with the model number designation A9M0331. The other was sold with the Macintosh II and Mac SE with a family number designation G5431. Besides FCC ID number s, both were exactly alike and came with a black track ball.
