Beni Mguild is a Berber tribe of the Sanhaja branch. This tribe originated in the Sahara, and since the end of the Middle Ages has been advancing north-west through the Middle Atlas, finally occupying this territory at the end of the 19th century.

Beni Mguild carpets are very well maintained, having been passed down through several generations. Made during the sometimes harsh winter months, Beni M'Guild rugs were originally used for everyday needs, and are one of the main sources of warmth and insulation in the homes of Berber tribes.

Each carpet has imperfections and an irregular Abrash appearance, as it was made by hand over the centuries.
The colours of this carpet are only due to the passage of time. It also bears a few marks and traces of wear that give it its charm and bear witness to its history. These marks are not considered defects.
