Engl Savage 120 E610 + Engl Z-7 Midi Interface First owner, bought new from Music Store Köln in april 2010.
New power tubes in november 2021: TAD 6550A-STR Blackplate Premium Matched. New Preamp tubes oktober 2023: TAD ECC83-Cz premium selected balance + 7025/E83CC Highgrade TAD Premium Selected. Has blown a main fuse once, now the spare fuse is in use.
Front panel logo doesn't stick anymore.
Right LED indicator of the power tube fuse has always been less bright red, no problem with the tube or fuse.
Amp is in working condition no problems as far as I can tell.
For those that don't know the amp has 2 main channels with different modes (channels). the gains work together with switchable master volumes, presence and depth boost for extra low end push. Also the amp has two effects loops for the main channels (channel 1+2 / Channel 3+4) which can create really interesting setups. I strongly recommend to read the user manual.
Channel 1 + 2 = clean to breakup to AC/DC crunch
works really well with pedals I like to set it up with some crunch and push it with a fuzz / OD or an HM-2 for that Swedish chainsaw sound.
Channel 3 = 80's hard rock and metal also works well with an OD for leads. Personally I like the Boss SD-1 for an Ozzy era Zakk Wylde esque tone.
Channel 4 = the Savage channel, dry and tight. Works really well for modern thrash or technical death metal. I like to reduce the gain and use an OD in front. mainly for some thicker mids. engage the depth boost and adjust the presence to taste.
This thing has a lot of treble and presence to cut through a dense mix or live situation. Personally I like this head with Greenbacks or a cab with a V30/Greenback mix. I would also recommend using a noise gate and EQ pedal in the loop to further tweak the tone depending on the situation.
Included is the Engl Z-7 midi interface which I also bought new about 2-3 years ago. Still in mint condition. A midi footswitch is not included (I used an Harley Benton one).
