The Common Elder (gewone vlier), is an elegant multi-stemmed tree.

This tree is known for its beautiful blooms and decorative berries. In spring and early summer, large, umbel-shaped inflorescences with delicate, cream-coloured flowers appear. These flowers have a wonderful, subtle scent and attract bees and other pollinators.

After flowering, the Sambucus nigra develops decorative, black-purple berries in late summer and autumn. Birds love the berries, which makes the tree a valuable addition to the biodiversity in the garden.

The Common Elder can reach a height of 4 to 6 metres.
