This position unfortunately does not offer work permit/visa sponsorship for non-EU citizens. We can only consider applicants that have full working rights for The Netherlands. Thank you.

Help build ultra-precision equipment that drives the quality and productivity of the world’s leading chipmakers.

The demand for increasingly smaller and more powerful IC devices is soaring. Nearfield Instruments’ QUADRA metrology machines help chipmakers accelerate quality control dramatically. And, as a result, boost chip production. As an assembly engineer based in Rotterdam, you will help build these revolutionary machines. Would you like to rapidly grow your expertise and work on the very latest technology?

What you’re going to do

You will be working on the assembly and testing of parts of our QUADRA machines and their mini atomic force microscopy. Of course, you will be working in one of our clean rooms. As we are growing rapidly, we are looking for multiple assembly engineers at different experience levels. If you are, or as you become, more experienced and skilled, you will assemble increasingly delicate components. Like optical and robot arms, cabling and navigation sensors.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Assembling dedicated parts of QUADRA in accordance with our assembly procedures.
  • Resolving technical issues which you are bound to come across, as you will be working with cutting-edge technology.
  • Inspecting, testing and validating the quality and functionality, on which you will also report.
  • Identifying potential for improvements to our assembly and testing methods and procedures and making recommendations to initiate those improvements.
  • Travelling to suppliers as well as clients across the globe, e.g. to conduct factory acceptance tests, when you have gained enough experience.
  • ·Supporting R&D projects from your technical perspective, which will give you the chance to contribute to groundbreaking innovations.

Who you’ll be working with

Your home base will be the rapidly growing System Integration team in the Product Operations department. You will join some 20 highly motivated technicians, engineers and scientists. We are connected by a drive to build deep-tech metrology solutions. As an international team, we have different cultural backgrounds, which is why diversity and inclusion comes natural to us.

We foster an open, non-hierarchical and friendly atmosphere, in which we share and welcome ideas, and also meet socially. And we empower you to grow your role and career, giving you all the support and training you need. Because at Nearfield Instruments, Together Everyone Achieves More.

What you’ll get

At Nearfield Instruments, you’ll be joining the most creative minds in science and technology from all over the world. We share a drive and have the potential to become the leading metrology instruments manufacturer. This is your chance to visibly contribute to growing our company and building revolutionary machines for the global semiconductor industry. The benefits we offer include:

  • A salary matching your skills, expertise and experience.
  • A one-year contract, which we hope to convert into a permanent contract.
  • Benefits like a good pension scheme, a commuting allowance, and a discount on your health insurance.
  • A holiday allowance of 8% and plenty of time to relax with 30 days of annual leave, based on a 40-hour week. And the possibility to exchange public holidays for alternative days off.
  • An engaging onboarding programme and a buddy to mentor you, so you can start with confidence.
  • Unrivalled on-the-job training as you’ll be working with the industry’s top scientists, developing technology that doesn’t yet exist. And lots of opportunities to grow your career at our rapidly growing scale-up.
  • [OPTIONAL] The opportunity to travel and even work abroad, as and when we’re opening research and production facilities across the globe.
  • An employer that is a proud ally for women and has a diverse and inclusive culture. People from over thirty countries inspire, care for and support each other. We encourage you to be or become who and what you want to be.
  • An open and transparent working environment: we listen to you and empower you to take initiative and get the job done in the way that works best for you.
  • A community that loves working at our high-tech facilities. Because that’s where we connect at a professional and a personal level, learning and growing together.
  • A fun place to be. You can join our running club and take part in our many social events, which include lunches and milestone parties. And if you have ideas of your own, feel free to take us along!

Who you are

You thrive on hands-on technical work in a rapidly growing deep-tech scale-up. Taking ownership, you embrace the dynamics of a fast-paced production environment. Which also means you don’t mind working outside office hours, or lending a hand to other teams to ensure we meet deadlines.

Rest assured that your flexibility is reciprocated, as we support your work-life balance. And you bring your sense of humour to add to our fun workplace. In addition, you are keen to embark on a steep learning curve to grow your skills. You interact well with colleagues, suppliers and clients alike, and you consider travelling and visiting suppliers and clients across the globe an incentive.

You also have:

  • An mbo (vocational / associate degree) level diploma in Fine Mechanical Engineering or another relevant subject related to precision instrumentation.
  • Relevant work experience, e.g. as an assembly engineer or AIT engineer. If you are joining us as at junior level, an internship also counts. And some years in a high-tech environment, if you’re joining us in a more senior role.
  • Knowledge of, or a keen interest in mechanics, mechatronics and/or optics.
  • Basic coding skills (Python), or the willingness to learn.
  • A working knowledge of spoken and written English, as English is our and our clients’ main language, and the willingness to learn and improve.

We can unfortunately not offer work permit/visa sponsorship for this role, so you need to have EU country nationality or otherwise unlimited work permission for The netherlands.

Who we are

At Nearfield Instruments, we develop, integrate, market and service advanced 3D metrology solutions, tackling the process control challenges in the nano industry. It’s our high-throughput 3D QUADRA SPM and our in-line AUDIRA subsurface metrology systems that help the world’s leading chipmakers assure the quality and increase production of increasingly smaller, complex and powerful IC devices.

Our daringly innovative, atom-scale systems offer solutions for next-gen chips, the latest technologies such as hybrid bonding, and even the most critical layers, including gate-all-around transistors. Being a scale-up founded in 2016, we now employ some 160 highly creative scientists, engineers and technicians.

This is how it works

The selection process will include two, and sometimes more, interviews, including a meeting with our CEO and CTO. If we have a match, we’ll make you an offer and, hopefully, we’ll be welcoming you at Nearfields Instruments, where you’ll participate in an extensive onboarding programme!
