These controllers for air heaters or air coolers with EC fans are easy and intuitive to use. This type of heaters is usually used to heat or cool warehouses or industrial spaces. With the ECH the speed of the EC fan can be controlled automatically based on the ambient temperature or can. But it can also be controlled manually in 5 steps. The unregulated output controls a water valve or an electric heating element. The temperature setpoint can be set with the rotary knob on the front panel within a range of 5 - 35 °C. The cooling or heating mode can be selected via Modbus communication or via a jumper. To measure the ambient temperature an optional PT500 temperature sensor is required.
Manual or automatic speed control of the EC fanIn manual mode, the speed of the EC fan is determined by the position of the rotary switch on the front panel. You can choose from one of the five available fixed speeds, there is also an OFF position and an automatic mode. In automatic mode, the speed of the EC fan is controlled based on the ambient temperature compared to the desired temperature (delta T). The minimum and maximum speed can be adjusted if necessary via the Modbus registers. And the range of the analogue output can be selected via a jumper or via Modbus: 0 - 6 VDC or 0 - 10 VDC.Heating or coolingA water valve or a heating element can be controlled on the unregulated output. In heating mode, the unregulated output is activated as soon as the ambient temperature is lower than the requested temperature. And in cooling mode, the unregulated output is activated when the ambient temperature is higher than the requested temperature. Once activated, the unregulated output delivers a voltage equal to the mains voltage (85 - 230 VAC) with a maximum load of 10 A. The selection between cooling or heating mode is done via Modbus or via a jumper. Remote control (via Modbus Building Management System or SenteraWeb)
When remote mode is enabled, the EC fan speed, the fixed 230 VAC output and the LED indicator can be controlled by changing the Modbus holding registers. This can be done via the SenteraWeb Cloud Services or via a Modbus RTU compatible Building Management System. Remote control mode disables all user interfaces on the front panel. Remote control mode can be activated by writing value 1 into Modbus holding register 20.Temperature sensor
Because the PT500 temperature sensor is available in different versions (as a room sensor, duct sensor or flying lead), you must order it separately as desired (see related articles below).r-ABS housing
The housing is made of premium-quality r-ABS plastic. This material is exceptionally heat-resistant, very tough and offers good impact protection. The surface-mounted housing offers IP54 protection against the ingress of dirt, dust and moisture.
