Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone
The M-Four is ART’s flagship microphone. It is a multipattern bottle-style mic with a large-diameter capsule and a tube preamplifier.
The condenser capsule is a 34mm, dual-diaphragm design. The diaphragm diameter is likely 27-28mm.
Two switches on the microphone body provide access to a -10dB pad and a high-pass filter (the slope and crossover points of which have not been published).
The microphone’s amplifier circuit is built around a 12AX7 tube. It is powered by an external power supply, which is a dual-voltage design. A switch on the power supply enables selection of 9 pickup patterns.
The mic’s shockmount appears to have been modeled after the Brauner shockmount. A metal C-clamp mounts to the mic body from behind, and is suspended within a larger C-clamp by elastic bands. This deign grips the mic from the sides and rear, allowing closer positioning of the mic’s face to the sound source.

The mic was introduced at the Summer NAMM show, 2009, and is scheduled for release in August.
